The Valencian Community (Comunitat Valenciana  (Valenciana) or Comunidad Valenciana (Spanish)), together with the province of Murcia, forms the area known as Levante (The East).

The Valencian Community itself, is an autonomous community of Spain located in central and south-eastern Iberian Peninsula with its capital and largest city, Valencia.  Its borders largely reflect those of the historic Kingdom of Valencia and runs along some 518 km of the Mediterranean coastline and covers an inland area of 23,259 km² with 5.1 million inhabitants (2009).

The region is divided into three provinces: Alicante, Castellón and Valencia; these are further divided into thirty-four comarques.

The current version of the Valencian Statute of Autonomy (2006) declares the Valencian Community a nationality of Spain. The official languages are Valenciana (a dialect of Catalan) and Spanish.
