How to use the site

Information is generally based around a 'place', which can be a region, province, comarca (county), city, town or village.

  • To see a specific place - type its name into the "Type a placename" box (selecting the name when you see it appear) - the page for that place will be displayed with tabs for information.
  • To browse down through a region - click the "Locations" button and start selecting, or click on the map (hover to see the region's name).

For activities and accomodation - click on the relevant menu button and you will see a list of types of activity/accomodation together with a list places where they occur. Click on the place name for more details.

Cortes de Pallás is a municipality in the comarca of Valle de Ayora in the province of Valencia, Spain. Counting a population of 1.054 inhabitants.(ENI 2011).

The most isolated of the settlements in the Valle de Ayora comarca, and it is perhaps precisely because of this - and its many resources - that it is such an attractive place with interesting architecture and a cultural heritage that includes the ruins of four fortifications, among other things. It is famed for the clean, crystal-clear waters of the navigable River Júcar, which flows through the town, and it is also blessed by the presence of various picturesque hamlets of Castilblanques: El Oro, La Cabezuela, Los Herreros, Otonel Venta de Gaeta y Viñuelas. Each of which oozes charm and offers great food and drink.

Theagricultural economy is based mainly on the production of olives and almonds, and to a lesser extent vineyards; livestock is principally goats and sheep. Of special mention is bee-keeping (honey production). However, the principal economy is from the generation of electricity by Iberdrola.
